About Quipucrafts

Quipu is a small family business based in West Dorset. We have been working in partnership with small family businesses in Peru since 1992. All of our dealings with our producers are based on mutual respect and fairness and over the years we have been privileged to make lasting friendships with many of our partners from Peru.

Each year we personally visit our suppliers in Peru to order our goods. We pay the price asked in advance to enable raw materials to be purchased. All of our business practices are based on trust and honesty. We know all of our producers and their families, and, apart from fulfilling European Trading Standards requirements we do not influence their originality and creativity.

We are fortunate to gain an income from our business dealings with talented and hard working families in a country with which we have a great affinity. We have chosen, as a family and a small fair trade business to try and put something back within Peru. We have established a charity Wawa, charity commission registration number 1119066, with the intention of raising funds to support some of the poorest children in Peru with improved educational opportunities and medical care.
